Bye Bye, Mitt…
Romney out. $35 million of his own money spent with nothing to show for it. I guess is you’re worth $250,000,000 it’s not that big a deal. While not crazy about Romney, I couldn’t agree with him more on an issue he brought to light during his concession speech the other day:
The attack on faith and religion is no less relentless. And tolerance for pornography—even celebration of it—and sexual promiscuity, combined with the twisted incentives of government welfare programs have led to today’s grim realities: 68% of African American children are born out-of-wedlock, 45% of Hispanic children, and 25% of White children. How much harder it is for these children to succeed in school—and in life. A nation built on the principles of the founding fathers cannot long stand when its children are raised without fathers in the home.
Are those numbers not staggering? 7 out of 10 African Americans and 5 of 10 Hispanics are born to unwed parents. Who is it that takes up the slack in raising these kids? In most cases, it’s not Dad. Couple that with the fact that many are born into poverty where access to a decent education is not likely, and it’s no wonder that our inner cities are crumbling.

Did you know?
The Phillies are offering Ryan Howard less money than Adam Eaton?
Story in today’s Inky:

Bub,
Don’t get caught up in the Ryan Howard making less than Adam Eaton crap. I know that’s a fact but its a lame argument. Adam Eaton was singed to a long term contact as a FREE AGENT, that’s it. Ryan Howard won’t reach his free agent year until the 2011 season. I think even the Phillies owners are willing to tell you that Ryan Howard is more valuable to the team than Adam Eaton but the economics of the game will prevent him from realizing his “true worth” until he either signs a long term deal ( hopefully soon or at least before his free agent year) or he continues with 1yr arbitration mandated deals until he is eligible for the ultimate prize, free agency. The Phils locked up Utley and J. Ro to lucrative long term deals, well before their free agent years. I think they’d love to do the same with Howard but it seems like the number he expects is way above those two. Maybe it should be and at some point I’m sure he’ll get it but Utley and J. Ro gave up TOP dollar for the security of a long term deal at something less. Seems Ryan wants TOP dollar and the security of a long term deal now. Yes this could come back to bite the PHils in the ass but I don’t think it classifies them as cheap. I’m more bothered by the fact they didn’t bite the bullet and sign Rowand. For what he meant to the team, the city, and the clubhouse, I think he was worth it. Ryan will get his, just not yet.
