SIC Police Chief and New Library

    Monday, October 29th, 2007

The Chief of Police in Sea Isle was recently issued a restraining order by his wife. Details should be forthcoming, but it appears that he is in some deep doo doo. An emergency session by City Council was called last week and a brief snippet of that session can be viewed below.

Sea Isle City Police Chief in Trouble?

Speaking of doo doo, City Council has decided where to place the new library in Sea Isle and the locale is……48th and Central. That’s right, the site of the former sewage plant. Don’t drink the water, y’all. Selfishly, I’m in favor as it’s a short walk from my place. The alternative, it seems, was to knock down the current building and rebuild. Parking, however, became a major issue and there’s plenty of space at 48th.

Another rumor that is circulating is that of building a two story parking garage at the site of the current library (once knocked down). That I’m not crazy about. I do realize that parking has been a major issue in recent years, but a garage will be a bit of an eyesore as you pull into town, wouldn’t it? Also, it’s proximity to the bars could be an issue. I guess they could stake a rent-a-cop at the pay booth with breathilizer in hand beginning at midnight. The DWI’s could cover the nut for the new library!

A friend just fired this off to me this a.m. I think it defines why I, and countless others, enjoy the sport so much, (Thanks, Joe Mack):

In waiting for a wave, in sitting out there between sets, bad thoughts, obsessive thoughts, will surface, but while actually riding, while standing up and searching for that rhythm, no matter how awful the day I’m having, my mind is clean and clear and blank and therefore content. I have never, not ever, had a conscious thought, good, bad or indifferent, while in the act of riding a wave. Some days I really need that vacuum, that purity.
