Ideas Anyone?
The incoming city council ran on a platform of transforming city government and getting the taxpayers involved, both resident and non-resident. I attended a meeting recently and can attest that this seems to be the case. The meeting was chaired by incoming council members John Divney, Frank Edwardi and Bill Kehner. About 30 residents were there with the selfless intention of volunteering their time in order to improve the quality of life in Sea Isle City. It was a brief yet productive meeting with abundant optimism.
I’ve volunteered for the “Shoulder Season Committee.” The mission is to build on the shoulder seasons of the summer, loosely defined as May/June and September/October. The Family Fall Festival, held two weeks after Labor Day, has already been a huge success. There is talk of an Irish Weekend sometime in September.
While I and some friends have several ideas for the committee (hot dog eating contest, mini-triathalon, etc…), I’d be grateful for more ideas that I could pass along.
Please post your thoughts.
Lastly, get involved! Those soon entering office (July 1st council is sworn in) would love to hear from you.
Later,
Bub
