Kobayashi - The Hot Dog Eating Champ

    Monday, June 25th, 2007

Takeru Kobayashi has won the Nathan’s Famous July 4th hot-dog contest six years in a row. Last year, he ate a record 53½ frankfurters, buns and all, in the required 12 minutes, or roughly one every 13 seconds. He is 5-foot-7 and 131 pounds and has defeated rivals many times his weight.

This year, however, there may be some real competition. Joey Chestnut, an American, was hot on his heels last year and finished second with 52 eaten. Word is his training regimen for this year’s contest has him eating Cheetos and Tahitian Treat in mass quantity. Could be an interesting contest.

    Disturbing Hot Dog Trivia

    Monday, June 25th, 2007

Being in the weenie business, I’ve come across some interesting facts about hot dogs:

Americans eat more than 16 billion hot dogs each year. Divide that by the 300,000,000 people in our country. That’s 53 hot dogs per year (how disgusting is that?).

The world record for eating hot dogs is 53 1/2 Nathan’s hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes by Takeru Kobayashi. That then translates to Kobayashi eating in 12 minutes the quantity that the average American eats in a year.

Babe Ruth once ate 12 hot dogs & 8 bottles of soda between games of a double header. He was reportedly rushed to the hospital after the game with a severe case of indigestion.

The average hot dog is consumed in 6.1 bites.

Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport sells more than 2 million hot dogs a year. I’m sure Milton Street is salivating at the potential!

Baseball fans will enjoy “in the ballpark” of 26.8 million hot dogs at US baseball stadiums this season. That’s enough to circle the bases 36,000 times.

More hot dogs will be eaten at Jacob’s Field, home of the Cleveland Indians - 1.8 million in 2001 - than in any other ballpark.

American eat about 150 million hot dogs on the 4th of July (about 2 billion for the whole month of July).

Most popular hot dog toppings by region:
    New York - Mustard
Chicago - Cucumber, Tomato, Pickle, Onion, Pickle Relish
    Los Angeles - Mayonnaise, Cheese.

    Sea Isle’s New Government

    Monday, June 25th, 2007

Attached below is as straightforward an explanation of the pending change of government in Sea Isle that you may find. I located it on the Sea Isle City Taxpayers Association, sicta.org, a link for which appears to the right. Check it out, pretty comprehensive site for SIC homeowners.

As stated in the previous post, I’m feeling good about this change. I know Mike McHale and Mayor Len Desiderio to both be decent and honorable men whom I’ve known for a while. Mike was the Captain of the beach patrol in 1982 when I was a rookie. Frank Edwardi is also a good man and successful businessman with a vested interest in Sea Isle as a lifelong resident who is also raising children in town. As such, I’m sure Frank is looking to impand I used to pal around as kids and I’m confident that he’s ran in order to
