Support New Orleans Music
While Hurricane Katrina is a distant memory to many, and was nothing more than a week’s worth of news, the fact remains that many remain effected by the worst natural tragedy to hit the USA in any of our lifetimes. Having lived in New Orleans and been enveloped by everything that the amazing city has to offer, the storm had a profound impact on me and my family and friends. Music is the backbone of the Crescent City, and it is this element of NOLA culture that we should all strive to preserve. Anyone that has ever been to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, nojazzfest.com, can attest to that.
The Tipitina’s Foundation (yes, the legendary Tipitina’s of whom Professor Longhair once sang), is doing its part. They have created a non-profit to uplift the musical spirit of New Orleans once again. The foundation is focused on everything New Orleans music, from providing instruments to NOLA high schools that were lost in the flood, to rebuilding Fats Domino’s house!
Please check out their site and learn about the ongoing efforts to keep music alive in the greatest city in the greatest country in the world (Bubba’s opinion, of course).
“The Tipitina’s Foundation is making sure New Orleans’ heart and soul, its music, continues to flourish.”
Bruce Springsteen
Save NOLA, y’all.
